THISTLES

(after school care)

We provide after school care and all day care (holidays and in-service days) for school-age children, in a separate unit. During the holidays our Playscheme is open to children of all ages whether they attend Riverside or not.

The children are collected by minibus/car from school by a member of staff. The cost of transport is included in the fees.

A snack is provided. During school holidays children bring a packed lunch.

Children have access to a large variety of equipment and although there is no rigid routine there is a structured, varied programme of play, (particularly during the holidays, when we make use of activity sessions provided by East Dunbartonshire Council), as well as regular outings on our 2 mini-buses and using bus/train passes.

Activities include

arts and crafts
reading - use of own and local library
games and puzzles
sports - large outdoor play area
walks, ball games, bikes etc
bowling (alley next door)
homework
toys
television/video
music, cassettes
computer/playstation
