Riverside Childcare has achieved the prestigious Investors in People standard.

This is a nationally recognised award which demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and development.

We are very flexible in our settling in arrangements, which are tailored to meet the needs of each child. We provide all day care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and After School Care.

We operate a key worker system to help your child feel secure and confident in a small group.

We are in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council which provides funding towards the cost of educating 3 and 4 year olds. We also offer free morning or afternoon nursery class sessions from 9.00am - 11.30am and 1.00pm - 3.30pm.

The owner is a Sick Children's Nurse and all staff are either qualified NNEB, HNC, MA or in training. There is a programme of continuous staff development.

We offer placements to Nursing Degree and Diploma students, NC and HNC college students as well as Work Experience for 4th and 5th year school pupils.

We develop and implement an HMIe approved curriculum to ensure quality and high standards in all we do.

There are notice boards aimed specifically at parents, giving information on current activities and the weekly timetable (to encourage parental contribution and involvement), services offered and general information.

A newsletter is issued at regular intervals.

We are a Health Promoting nursery, i.e. we provide varied, nutritious, well- balanced snacks and lunches as well as promoting daily physical exercise.

We are registered with the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care.

Outdoor Learning and Play Environment

Our extensive garden area has the advantage of being surrounded by fields and countryside, away from roads and traffic and offers space to allow children to move around freely.

Outdoor play is an important part of our Healthy Living strategy and provides the means for children to develop their physical skills.
Children¹s physical development is influenced by their growing confidence and enjoyment of physical play, by their increasing ability to control their own bodies through movement and by their well-being and strength.

We encourage children to develop a greater awareness and understanding of the countryside and natural habitats of birds, insects, trees and plants within the environment. We have created some natural habitats on a small scale that will attract and encourage visits from birds and insect life.

Our garden has all these resources;

  • environmental garden
  • forest
  • digging pit
  • baby garden
  • balancing beams
  • stepping blocks
  • outdoor art
  • walk-in sandpit
  • physical apparatus

Riverside Childcare is an Eco-friendly nursery. We promote environmental awareness in a way that links to most, if not all, curriculum subjects.
This approach allows us to critically examine the values we hold as individuals and as part of society as a whole.
